How can I have "too many open files"?

You may be reading this because of failing tasks, or because you’re seeing the message in your logs. You may even be aware of the ulimit solution.

In this example, the issue turned out to be expensive queries. The user was restarting services to resolve the issue. Query lanes turned out to be a better solution.

(Oh, and let’s not forget that multi-stage distributed queries are probably on the horizon.)

Would this happen if a Historical had too many segments on it? Or is this a different cause?
