Quickstart tutorial - "Load streaming data" - index_realtime_metrics* task stuck in running state

I follow steps from Quickstart tutorial (http://druid.io/docs/0.9.0/tutorials/quickstart.html) and I’m stuck at loading streaming events.

The events was sent successfully via tranquility

$ bin/generate-example-metrics | curl -XPOST -H’Content-Type: application/json’ --data-binary @- http://localhost:8200/v1/post/metrics
{“result”:{“received”:25,“sent”:25}}

however after that the task ‘index_realtime_metrics_2016-05-19T19:00:00.000Z_0_0’ appears in running state for the last 40 minutes (as shown on coordinator console), no visible errors in logs or consoles, task status is ‘running’ and obviously ‘metrics’ doesn’t appear in datasources list on druid console.

All druid nodes and zookeeper are running, no visible errors in log messages.

I’m running all processes directly on Mac.

Any suggestions what to look at?

Thanks,

Vlad

Hey Vlad,

This is normal behavior – task completion and handoff should happen within an hour, and until that occurs, the task will stay running and the coordinator/historicals will not receive the data. But you can still query it while it’s pending in the realtime task. For example, if you run Pivot (https://github.com/implydata/pivot) then your data should show up there immediately.
