Risk of changing the segment cache locations

Is there a risk of changing segment cache location ?

I want to change the segment cache location in one of our historical node. I want to remove it from the boot partition. The / partition is 95% complete and current

Time0 - Initial setup

Time1 - Resize the volume

Disk was full so I resized the volume and it worked.

Time2- New mount point added and so added it as part of the file system and segment location

xvda 202:0 0 2T 0 disk

└─xvda1 202:1 0 2T 0 part /

xvdg 202:96 0 2T 0 disk

└─xvdg1 202:97 0 2T 0 part /data2

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on

udev 30G 12K 30G 1% /dev

tmpfs 6.1G 368K 6.0G 1% /run

/dev/xvda1 2.0T 1.8T 114G 95% / (I want to move these files to new partition)

none 4.0K 0 4.0K 0% /sys/fs/cgroup

none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock

none 31G 0 31G 0% /run/shm

none 100M 0 100M 0% /run/user

/dev/xvdg1 2.0T 853G 1.1T 45% /data2

Now i want to move the segment cache out of boot drive. i.e Is there any risk ?

I have S3 where raw data is stored so I was thinking to mount a new disk point and add it to the segment location.

Is there any risk ? Is these segment location stored anywhere else too ?
