"Still waiting for Handoff" message in logs

I set up a single-node Druid cluster according to these instructions and tried ingesting some data from Kafka as explained in this tutorial. However, the subsequent query does not show the ingested data and if I check the realtime node’s logs I see this message at 1 minute intervals:

2016-02-11T09:45:34,967 INFO [coordinator_handoff_scheduled_0] io.druid.segment.realtime.plumber.CoordinatorBasedSegmentHandoffNotifier - Still waiting for Handoff for Segments : [[SegmentDescriptor{interval=2016-02-09T13:00:00.000Z/2016-02-09T14:00:00.000Z, version=‘2016-02-09T13:00:00.000Z’, partitionNumber=0}]]

What’s wrong with the setup? The data is present in Kafka, I can consume it with a command line consumer and the events were sent to the real-time node.

Thank you,

Hi David, can you share your configuration and ingestion spec?

FWIW, we completely redid the Kafka ingest tutorial and recommendations in 0.9.0: http://druid.io/docs/0.9.0-rc1/tutorials/tutorial-kafka.html

If you want a version that works with the latest Druid stable instead of an RC, you can check out: http://imply.io/docs/latest/tutorial-kafka

sorry for the late reply, I completely forgot about the post since I got this to work shortly after. I forgot to start one of the required services if I remember correctly.
