Tranquility Kafka Consumer Stops

Hey all,

Im using the Tranquility Kafka Server and ran into this exception:

ERROR c.m.tranquility.kafka.KafkaConsumer - Exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Propagate call failed

Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: null timestamp

I would expect Tranquility to treat something like a null timestamp as a transient error or something and just continue with its business but the whole kafka consumer disconnects after this exceptions.

Is there something within tranquility to bypass this? Or will i have to exclude the events with bad timestamps? Is this a null timestamp within the event or with tranquility timekeeper?

All help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey Nicholas,

This is definitely a bug. I think this would be fixed by https://github.com/druid-io/tranquility/pull/140.

This should happen when there’s a null timestamp field in your incoming event, so you should be able to work around it by filtering out messages with missing timestamps.

Thanks! I’ll be sure to do that.
