What happens if my replication factor is greater than my number of historical nodes?

A community member was running a Druid cluster with a replication factor of 3, but only had 2 historical nodes available. The community member wondered if any errors would be thrown. A couple of Druid committers assured that “things will continue to work just fine,” even though there would be reduced availability, and shared a couple of ways to monitor segment availability. Read about the segments table here, and the context here.
