On the Indexing Service’s configuration page (http://druid.io/docs/latest/configuration/indexing-service.html) under the section titled Dynamic Allocation there’s an example of a Worker specification. From reviewing the Druid documentation, it’s not clear where this worker component fits into the Indexing Service. Are workers synonymous with Peons? If they’re not, what other components to they collaborate with?
A Worker is a node running middleManager which is capable of running multiple peons/tasks.
Thanks for the clarification. Any particular reason the Druid docs use this phrase interchangeably? My original assumption was that workers were the same as peons. It looks like the Druid project welcomes contributions to their documentation – perhaps I can submit a few pull requests
No real reason for this outside of the fact no one has contributed a fix yet
